The evolution of portraits that Kevissimo brings to his audience became personal when a friend asked if he could have her father, in late stages of Parkinson’s, sit for him. Asking if their was anyplace in the Judges project for him resulted in an inspiration by Kevissimo to have him appear as ‘Joshua’ Joshua begins the Book of Judges and concludes the book with the question, whom should his people follow once he is gone. Will they follow God or will they return to serving their pagan gods? ‘So choose’ he told them. Despite their promises, they returned to their old ways and his people descended into a spiral of selfishness and violence. Thus begins Judges. His friend’s aging and fragile father portrays an image of a man that could not speak yet gave one of the greatest of recorded sermons. This piece is currently on exhibit.
