Another interpretation of the story of one of the earliest martyrs who stood up to the corruption of the ruling Emperor and was sentenced to death by being taken to the woods, shot with arrows and left for dead. See also “The Rescue of Saint Sebastian”

But Sebastian didn’t die and was instead rescued by a woman named Irene and nursed back to health only to confront the Emperor again and this time his death found him.
